Laser Hair Removal (LHR) is a simple, convenient and noninvasive method to remove unwanted body or facial hair by exposing hair follicles to safe laser light. It leaves your skin feeling much smoother than waxing, shaving razors or hair removal creams. The hair can be located on your face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, chest, calves, or back.
Suitable for both men and women, it is a long term, stable solution and we can achieve almost 99% hair removal. There have been rare instances of fine hair re-growing after many months but this could also happen due to the influence of internal hormones.
A gentle, pulsating beam of high intensity laser light is used to target the hair follicle. The pigment in the follicle absorbs the light which destroys the hair. The process only targets the hair root and avoids damage to the surrounding skin and tissue. Patented Dynamic Cooling Devices used at Dr. Karishma Aesthetics will protect and cool the upper layers of skin while the light pulses are being delivered.
Most people need a minimum of 6 to 8 sessions to achieve the desired results, with a gap of 4 to 6 weeks between sessions. Once the hair becomes finer and reduces in density, then the sessions can be spaced to once in 3 to 4 months.
Most people find laser hair removal to be a significant savings over the combined cost of shaving, waxing and other treatments, and that’s not even counting all the time spent removing the unwanted hair. The number of treatments will vary, so we recommend you make an appointment for an individual assessment. Our professional Dermatologists will be happy to provide you an estimate based on your desired outcome.
The lasers used at Dr. Karishma Aesthetics are the most advanced lasers that work on all skin types.
During the session, we will provide you with special “eyewear” to protect your eyes from the laser beam and the treatment areas, like bikini line and armpit, will be numbed with local anesthetic cream.
Some redness, swelling or itching may be experienced after the procedure. We will provide you with adequate moisturizers to help this subside.
Sun protection will be extremely important for two weeks before and after the procedure.
For the same two weeks DO NOT WAX, PLUCK OR BLEACH the hair. Bleaching interferes with the ability of the laser to find the hair and its hair follicle. Plucking and waxing affects the hair follicle growth cycle and extend the number of sessions you will need.
After treatment, it may appear that the hair is still growing in the treated area. This will change within a week or two as the hairs fall out.
If you have any redness or swelling, apply ice packs as needed.
If a blister or scab develops, call us. We’ll tell you what type of antibiotic ointment to apply to the area.
Don’t scrub the treated area. Gentleness is the best laser after- treatment needed.
Protect your skin for the next two weeks with a sunscreen that has a SPF of 30.
Schedule your next appointment four weeks from the date of your current appointment.
